Yaana Hauvroesh is a Licensed Professional Counsellor and Psychotherapist in private practice serving clients internationally. She works with clients in her offices in both Canada and Mexico as well as remotely through online sessions. Additionally, she offers workshops and group retreats in various designated locations as well as designs private and personalized intensives for individuals or couples at the location of their choice.

Her diverse areas of expertise provide her clients with holistic therapy and offerings that create an integration of body, mind, heart and soul. Her training and studies combine a balance of both Western Psychology and Eastern teachings. She completed her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology with specializations in Somatic Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy in California. Further studies in post-graduate trainings include Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP), EMDR Trauma Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Shadow Work Facilitation, Undercurrents Dance Therapy and various Mindfulness Approaches. Additional certifications obtained in Yoga, Meditation, Chi-gong, Posimage, Live Foods Lifestyle, and High Vibrational Living (pranic practices) contribute to her comprehensive and integrative practice.

Yaana is passionate about assisting others to rewrite their past and reprogram unconscious patterns so that they are free to experience deeper and more fulfilling connections with themselves and others. Using a variety of modalities she effectively addresses challenges such as anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, phobias and transition as well as facilitates personal growth such as clarifying one’s life purpose, creating a healthier lifestyle and expanding one’s consciousness.

She is well known for her work with couples and for the model of respectful relating that she has developed and refers to as Conscious and Co-Creative Communication. She is currently in the process of writing a series of books to share this information as well as numerous other tools and techniques that both clients and therapists can use to address essential areas of healing and growth.

Combined with her passion for therapy, Yaana uses her natural fascination and experience with the power of mother nature to heal and provide a sanctuary for her clients. This journey has unfolded over the past many decades throughout various explorations, including: building and living off-grid in an eco-home; home-birthing and home-schooling her son, who is now an adult on his own path of exploration; studying and implementing the practices of healing with macrobiotics, whole foods, juicing, sprouting, raw living cuisine, sun-gazing and pranic practices; spending extended periods of time in nature on ‘vision quests’, and deepening into states of greater presence and connection with self and source.

Yaana enjoys sharing each of these areas of exploration with others who are interested in experiencing similar journeys.  She offers retreats and personalized intensives for individuals, couples or groups in various locations, both through her own private practice of Purest Essence Counselling and Retreats as well as Lotus Retreats Coaching and Consulting, of which she is co-founder and co-facilitator.

Her unique journey and particular gifts provide her with the ability to integrate both science and spirituality as well as her capacity to uncover what lies deep beneath the surface layers of patterns and behaviours. She offers her clients both a breadth and a depth of wisdom as well as a combination of skills and tools that is rarely found. Further is her capacity and commitment to working intensively with clients when needed and/or remotely as required. Through her experience and expertise she has developed a niche of offering clients what is needed when it is needed. For instance, she offers ongoing virtual support via telephone or video calling as well as the option of private and personalized retreats (for individuals, couples, or families) that are individually designed according to each client’s needs and interests  - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

She is a member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) and the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy. She refers to her company, Purest Essence Counselling and Retreats: Facilitating your Awakening of Body, Mind, Heart, and Soul, as an offering that provides a “roadmap to guide you through to the 'heart of the matter' and back to your true nature , to your purest essence”.

Note: The name Yaana Hauvroesh is a recent and legal name change (2020) as she has chosen to take her Belarussian family name of Hauvroesh and the ethnic translation of her birth name Shawna. Many have come to know her over the years by her birth name of Shawna Devette Owen and are now in process of updating this name change.
