Yaana Hauvroesh is a Licensed Professional Counsellor and Psychotherapist in private practice serving clients internationally. She works with clients in her offices in both Canada and Mexico as well as virtually through online sessions. Additionally, she offers workshops and group retreats in various locations as well as designs private, personalized intensives for individuals or couples either at their own home or the destination of their choice.

Her diverse areas of expertise provide her clients with a combination of holistic therapies and offerings that create an integration of body, mind, heart and soul. Her training and studies combine a balance of both Western Psychology and Eastern teachings. She completed her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology with specializations in both Somatic Psychology as well as Marriage and Family Therapy in California. Further studies in post-graduate trainings include EMDR Trauma Therapy, Integrative Body Psychotherapy (IBP), Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Shadow Work Facilitation, Undercurrents Dance Therapy and various Mindfulness Approaches. Additional certifications obtained in Yoga, Meditation, Chi-gong, Posimage, Live Foods Lifestyle, and High Vibrational Living (pranic practices) contribute to her comprehensive and integrative practice.

Yaana is passionate about assisting others to rewrite their past programs and rewire unconscious patterns so that they are free to experience deeper and more fulfilling connections with themselves and others. Using a variety of modalities she effectively addresses challenges such as anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, phobias and more. In addition, she masterfully facilitates clients through transitions and their next steps such as clarifying their life purpose, creating a healthier lifestyle, elevating their consciousness, and creating the life they envision.

She is well known for her work with couples and for the model of respectful relating that she has developed and refers to as Conscious and Co-Creative Communication. She is currently in the process of writing a series of books to share this information as well as numerous other tools and techniques that both clients and therapists can use to address essential areas of healing and growth.

Equal to her passion for therapy, is her appreciation and reverence for the power of Mother Nature to heal and provide sanctuary. This journey has unfolded over the past many decades throughout various explorations. It began with building a solar powered eco-home and living off-grid and off the land, growing gardens and cooking on a wood stove, home birthing and home-schooling her son. Soon she was facilitating weekly sharing circles around a fire under the night skies and hosting traditional native sweat lodges. During these years she also began studying how to nourish and heal the physical body with food, experimenting first with the principles of macrobiotics followed by diets of whole foods, vegetarianism, raw vegan live cuisine, frutarianism, sprouting, and finally juicing which eventually lead her to explore extended periods of fasting, sun-gazing and the pranic practice of living on light. All of this, she shares with those who are interested in making changes to their dietary habits, creating a personalized program she refers to as their “individualized evolutionary eating plan”.

Her love of nature, its silence and solitude, found her spending extended periods of time alone on vision quests for periods up to eleven days sitting in meditation in the desert of the Baja peninsula as well as ‘dark room retreats’ in Thailand. These opportunities allowed her to deepen into states of greater presence and connection with both self and source, an area of significant personal interest since her near death experience at the age of 30. In addition to these inner journeys, she has been blessed with the opportunity to travel to various sacred locations and lands in places such as Peru, India, Mexico, Egypt, and Israel. Her passion for assisting others to connect more deeply with nature, both their own and that surrounding them, inspired her to apply her expertise and skills into both consulting for and managing resorts and retreat centers in Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Peru. All of these many experiences, of course, form the fabric of her life and inform the essence of her work.

She offers her clients both a breadth and a depth of wisdom as well as a combination of skills and tools that is rarely found. Her unique journey allows her to provide clients with an integration of both science and spirituality. Combining both intellect and intuition, she has a remarkable capacity to uncover deeply hidden causal factors of patterns and behaviors. She then is able to facilitate the rapid rewiring and reprogramming, which frees clients to move forward and take the next steps in creating the lives they envision for themselves.

Her assistance can be accessed through individual sessions, couples counselling, workshops or group retreats. If there is not a scheduled program in your area, she can create a personalized retreat specifically designed for you, your relationship, family, or work team. Sessions can take place either remotely with online video conferencing or together in the privacy of your own home or a selected accommodations, and may even include the collaboration of additional facilitators and practitioners as needed/requested.

Further support is offered through her capacity and commitment to working with clients when in crisis. Shen is available and ‘on call’ via telephone and messaging with the option of in-house intensives when required. Whether clients are looking for support with lifestyle changes due to health crisis, repairing communication and connection after a relationship crisis, or reconnecting clients with their passions and life purpose, Yaana will design and implement a program that addresses each client’s specific needs - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

She is a member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) and the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy. She refers to her company, Purest Essence Counselling and Retreats: Facilitating your Awakening of Body, Mind, Heart, and Soul, as an offering that provides a “roadmap to guide you through to the 'heart of the matter' and back to your true nature , to your purest essence”.

Note: The name Yaana Hauvroesh is a recent and legal name change (2020) as she has chosen to take her Belarussian family name of Hauvroesh and the ethnic translation of her birth name Shawna. Many have come to know her over the years by her birth name of Shawna Devette Owen and are now in process of updating this name change.
